MARUTI SUZUKI SCHOOL ACTIVATION

Maruti Suzuki, picked up the project of imparting knowledge around road safety awareness to kids in schools.

It has been a topic of discussion to educate our kids young on this subject to minimize casualties and leave a deeper understanding and impact.

Team at OOHMA, partnered with multiple external stakeholders for literature, content, training, and execution of this project.

OOHMA & Route 2 Roots helped in facilitating the training at school level. The project is named ‘Catch Them Young’ – a road safety program for school students

Observation and Findings

The entire project reached out to 52 schools, directly reaching out to 11,712 students, while targeting the total school base of 137,370 students. The directly trained students are likely to influence at least 4 people among their friends and family, establishing an additional external reach of approximately 46,848. This cumulates to a total reach of 195.930 people.

Out of the 52 schools surveyed, 28 (20 Government & 8 Private) schools reported that they have had at least one session on road safety arranged in their school for students. An important point to be noted here is that most of these government schools had conducted the session to comply with the directive from the Directorate of Education (DOE). This was a one-time session and was not pursued any further.

Among the 52 schools surveyed, only 5 (9.6%) private schools had an existing road safety club that conducts activities on road safety them. These clubs in the schools have been undertaking activities such as debates, poster making and short films production on road safety.
